The Clean Industrial Deal is a European Commission initiative launched in 2025 to strengthen the competitiveness and decarbonisation of European industry while advancing the transition to a climate-neutral economy. The strategy focuses on energy-intensive sectors, including chemicals, steel, cement, metals, and fertilisers, supporting the adoption of cleaner energy sources, low-carbon technologies, and more sustainable production processes.
Key actions include improving access to affordable clean energy, stimulating demand for low-carbon products, and mobilising over €100 billion in investment to support industrial decarbonisation and clean-technology manufacturing across sectors such as batteries, hydrogen technologies, and renewable energy equipment. The initiative also promotes circular use of materials, resource efficiency, and innovation, highlighting the important role of green chemistry and sustainable chemical processes in enabling a competitive and resilient European industry.
