🌱 Celebrating Excellence at the Green Chemistry Hackathon Challenges 2025 🌱
Uganda Cleaner Production Centre (UCPC) is proud to congratulate the three outstanding teams that emerged as the best performers out of 26 highly competitive teams at the Green Chemistry Hackathon Challenges 2025, held under the theme “Fueling Uganda’s Green Future.”
🏆 Congratulations to:
🥇 BioValorX – for their innovative solution transforming crude glycerol from biodiesel production into biodegradable polymers, tackling both plastic pollution and industrial waste through circular economy principles.
🥈 Team Green World – for presenting a zero-waste biorefinery model that fully valorizes biodiesel glycerol into sophorolipids, animal feed, and organic fertilizer, delivering environmental, economic, and social impact.
🥉 G Lactic – for their compelling approach to converting crude glycerol into lactic acid and biodegradable plastics (PLA), demonstrating strong potential for scalable green manufacturing in Uganda and beyond.
Out of 26 teams, these three stood out for their technical strength, innovation, feasibility, and alignment with green chemistry and circular economy principles. Their ideas exemplify how youth-led, science-driven innovation can address real industrial challenges while advancing sustainable development.
👏 UCPC commends all participating teams for their passion, creativity, and commitment to building a greener future for Uganda. We also extend our appreciation to our partners, mentors, and jury for nurturing innovation through this challenge-driven platform.
Together, we are proving that green chemistry is not just science—it is a pathway to sustainable industrial transformation.
