First-ever Green Chemistry Accelerator Program in Uganda

Description

🌱 A Milestone for Green Innovation in Uganda 🌱

Uganda Cleaner Production Centre (UCPC) is proud to reflect on the successful completion of the first-ever Green Chemistry Accelerator Program in Uganda—a pioneering initiative that has laid a strong foundation for green industrial innovation, sustainable manufacturing, and circular economy solutions in the country.

Implemented in collaboration with the Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering at Yale University, the 2025 accelerator cohort brought together 9 committed startups applying green chemistry principles to real-world challenges across sectors such as chemicals, energy, textiles, packaging, personal care, biotechnology, and agro-processing. Through structured training, mentorship, masterclasses, and industry engagement, these startups strengthened their technologies, business models, and readiness for scale.

The journey was crowned at the Demo Day & Showcase, where three startups emerged as the top performers of the accelerator program for their innovation, feasibility, and impact potential:
🏆 CHENOVA
🏆 Kanyes Dairy Farm SMC Ltd
🏆 RWAM Ventures Limited

👏 We congratulate these outstanding startups for setting a high benchmark and demonstrating what is possible when science, sustainability, and entrepreneurship align.

✨ Special recognition goes to all 9 startups that completed the accelerator, each contributing uniquely to Uganda’s green transition:

TEXFAD

Kanyes Dairy Farm SMC Ltd

Biolustre Varnish Production

Reflora Labs (U) Ltd

BioCycle Energy

Essen Investment Limited

CHENOVA

Mutumba Innovation Village

RWAM Ventures Limited

📣 Call to action: UCPC invites green-conscious entities, investors, policymakers, development partners, research institutions, and industry players to come on board and support, mentor, pilot, finance, and partner with these startups. They represent a growing pipeline of solutions capable of reducing hazardous chemicals, creating green jobs, adding value to local resources, and advancing Uganda’s sustainable industrialization agenda.

This first cohort is just the beginning. Together, we can scale green chemistry innovations from lab to market and build a cleaner, safer, and more resilient economy for Uganda.
