On December 16, 2025, Ukraine marked a pivotal milestone in its industrial evolution by hosting the first-ever Green Chemistry Forum in Kyiv. This landmark hybrid event united over 100 leaders from government, academia, and the private sector to establish a national dialogue on replacing hazardous substances with safer, innovative chemical solutions. Featuring high-level insights from the Yale Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering and the Ministry of Economy, the forum focused on how "GreenChem" principles can modernize Ukrainian manufacturing, reduce environmental footprints, and align the country with global sustainability standards.
The program showcased real-world applications of the circular economy, including the transition to PFAS-free materials and the recovery of lithium from industrial streams. By bridging the gap between scientific research and commercial scaling, the forum highlighted Ukraine’s potential to become a regional leader in sustainable innovation. This event serves as a foundational call to action for cross-sectoral cooperation, ensuring that the future of Ukrainian industry is built on chemical safety, economic competitiveness, and environmental resilience.
