On June 15, 2023, the RECP Centre Ukraine hosted the first online training, “Green Chemistry for Sustainable Development and Growth,” as part of the Global GreenChem Innovation and Networking Programme, funded by the Global Environment Facility, implemented by UNIDO, and executed in collaboration with Yale University.
Led by RECP experts Olena Tabachuk and Oleksandr Khokhotva, the training provided a comprehensive overview of the role of chemicals in society, introduced the 12 principles of green chemistry, and explored its potential across research and industry in Ukraine. The event drew over 50 participants, including researchers, policymakers, business representatives, and environmental experts, with 65% female representation.
The training aimed to raise awareness, promote sustainable chemical practices, and foster dialogue on new opportunities for green chemistry in Ukraine.
As part of the programme’s ongoing implementation, the selection of a demonstration enterprise to pilot green alternatives to persistent organic pollutants is still in progress.
