Altag: Next-gen textile materials from agricultural waste

The fashion industry wants to shift to better materials, but choosing between environment and economics has always been viewed as a tradeoff traditionally. AltMat is an Alternative Materials Science company based in India that is building regenerative technologies defining materials of the future.

Using materials science and sustainable proprietary processes, AltMat is transforming agricultural waste, such as hemp oil seed, banana fruit, pineapple fruit or renewable feedstocks to produce Altag, a natural, industrial-grade fibre that can be used to manufacture yarns, fibres, and fabrics for use in home décor, clothing and accessories, or to produce paper. Currently they are producing: 1) Alt Fibres (paper making, packaging, non-wovens, hygiene products, composites, and specialised spinning.) 2) Alt yarns (apparels, accessories to home textiles and upholstery.)
