Arborea has developed revolutionary BioSolarTM 'breathing cultivation' technology to capture and convert carbon dioxide into food, feed, pharma, agrochemical and cosmetic ingredients at large scale and low cost without needing any fertile land. The process is modular, low capex and works via the industrial photosynthesis of microalgae.
Arborea’s Biosolar Leaf™ technology does not need pressurised gases, expensive glass photobioreactors, open ponds exposed to cross contamination, indoor systems or special energy sources and is a contained, external and completely micro-environment controlled system powered by just sunlight and CO₂as emitted from breweries, bioethanol plants, chemical plants, agricultural waste etc. This allows the cultivation of multiple nutrient-rich ingredients on non-fertile land with no deforestation, no loss of biodiversity and minimal fresh water. Products such as multifunctional proteins, natural colours, bioactive nutrients, biofuel feedstocks, natural fertilizers etc can all be made as the one process enables the production of any one of 30,000 different microalgae.
The Biosolar Leaf™ doesn’t rely on fertile land or agricultural feedstocks and can produce high-value ingredients at scale almost anywhere – on rooftops, arid land, or co-located with existing infrastructures. The technology is modular, easily scalable, climate-resilient and can produce nutritious ingredients anywhere in the world emitting pure oxygen as the only by-product. This enabling technology helps the world’s increasing demand for food, without increasing emissions or land use providing food security for any country regardless of resources.
