Octa System for PFAS Destruction

PFAS chemicals are everywhere, from personal care products to nonstick cookware. Since the 1950s, these dangerous chemicals have caught the attention of regulators, leading to bans and growing calls for change. No removal or disposal method has been able to destroy PFAS forever — until now. Aclarity has developed the Octa system that breaks the carbon fluorine bond which has made the chemicals proliferate in the environment.

Using a proprietary electrochemical system, the Aclarity system is breaking down contaminants and is addressing the status quo. Octa is the first PFAS destruction technology in the world that is being deployed in a full-scale system. Other alternatives for PFAS removal and disposal move the problem around and waste resources along the way but never address the root problem.

How does it work?

  1. PFAS in landfill leachate or liquid waste are adsorbed onto anode surface of the electrochemical system
  2. Free electrons break C-F bonds resulting in CO2, HF, F-
  3. Oxidant radicals generated through electrochemical process
  4. PFAS are permanently destroyed

Aclarity’s Octa System destroys PFAS contaminants on-site, with ease while being compliant with hazardous waste regulations. On-site destruction means the end of costly and labor-intensive transportation of PFAS waste to disposal sites while unlocking a new revenue stream.

Aclarity system has been designed to be deployed in numerous applications ranging from:

  1. Landfill: Destroy PFAS as well as ammonia and nitrogen on-site
  2. Industrial: Feedwater and wastewater from laundry, pulp and paper, automotive sectors
  3. Wastewater: Contaminants in municipal or industrial water
  4. Drinking water: Ensuring municipal drinking water is safe for all
  5. Aviation: PFAS destruction from combating fuel fires at AFFF contaminated sites
