GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals® Methodology

GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals® (“GreenScreen”) is a chemical hazard assessment methodology.

The guidance provided in this publication clearly outlines every step for performing GreenScreen assessments, including how to assess and classify hazards, derive GreenScreen Benchmark™ scores and GreenScreen List Translator™ scores, and make informed decisions.

A GreenScreen assessment is a comprehensive, transparent method for evaluating chemical hazards to human health and the environment. It analyzes substances across 18+ toxicological endpoints—such as carcinogenicity and toxicity—to benchmark chemicals from highest concern (Benchmark-1) to safest (Benchmark-4), enabling organizations to identify safer alternatives.

GreenScreen List Translator™ is a streamlined chemical hazard assessment methodology based on review  of GreenScreen Specified Lists™ only, and can be very informative as a preliminary step to quickly identify known chemicals of high concern and to prioritize chemicals for further review or action.
