Safer Chemistry Impact Fund

Eligibility

Eligible Recipient(s)
Non-Governmental Organization

The Safer Chemistry Impact Fund (SCI Fund), an innovative blended capital initiative aimed at eliminating the use of hazardous chemicals and accelerating the transition to safer chemistry, proudly announces its inaugural Request For Proposal (RFP).

The Fund is seeking proposals from non-profit organizations to develop a comprehensive Sector Baseline Report that will assess the current landscape of chemical usage within a specific consumer-facing supply chain. The successful RFP applicant will propose an innovative approach for combining large datasets, data analytics, data visualization, and expert interpretation to produce clear, comparable data that establishes a baseline report, and that can provide a clear roadmap for intervention to eliminate chemicals of concern and to fill priority data gaps.

Sector Baseline Reports allow companies to understand the substances being used in specific industry sectors, high-priority applications, and individual products. The same process can be used for industry, company, and supplier level insights.

The selected organization(s) will be tasked with characterizing the chemicals used in the chosen sector, identifying priorities for eliminating data gaps, replacing hazardous chemicals with safer alternatives, and quantifying the use of safer chemistry over time in the chosen supply chain.

“The release of our first RFP marks a significant milestone in our mission to embed safer chemistry as the standard operating system across global supply chains,” said Bill Walsh, Director of the Fund. “We are eager to partner with organizations that share our vision and can provide critical insights to drive meaningful change within their respective”

The SCI Fund is committed to supporting projects that demonstrate the potential for substantial impact within the next two to three years. The funding term for this project is one year, with budgets ranging from $50,000 to $250,000. Proposals will be evaluated based on their potential impact, alignment with SCI Fund metrics, feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and the qualifications of the applicant organization.

The deadline for submissions is October 30, 2024. Final decisions and fund disbursement are expected within 90 days of the submission deadline.
