Brazil’s National Inventory of Chemical Substances, a proposed law established in 2019, is a proposed law seeking to assess and control risks of chemical substances used, produced, or imported under Brazilian territory, with the goal of minimizing the adverse impacts on human health and the environment.

This initiative is part of establishing a legal framework to promote safer handling and more effective risk management of chemicals in line with global practices like REACH. The National Inventory of Chemical Substances aims to modernize outdated chemical and safety regulations to align with international standards. The Federal senate approved PL 6120 in October 2024 and is currently waiting for presidential approval.
