Established in 2021, this law set up a competitive industrial symbiosis grant program. The intent is to support collaborative projects working to advance the circular economy, by finding beneficial uses for industrial waste. The innovative efforts range from research and development to on-the-ground implementation.
The Industrial Symbiosis Program is available to entities taking steps to support the reduction, reuse, or elimination of industrial waste to benefit Washington’s circular economy.
These competitive grants support projects that advance the concept that economic growth does not have to equal waste. The program is a catalyst for transforming industrial waste such as heat, energy, water, biomass, and materials, into added-value resource for beneficial use by industry.
