A-Leen® 5 -- From Biomass to Cosmetics

Minasolve, a subsidiary of the Minafin Group, specializes in developing and producing innovative, sustainable, and high-performance ingredients for the cosmetics and personal care industries. A key area of expertise for Minasolve is its "MinaSolve Protect" product line, which offers alternatives to conventional preservatives and includes a variety of cutting-edge ingredients designed to meet the demands of the cosmetic market. Among these is A-Leen® 5, a multifunctional ingredient that is ECOCERT and COSMOS approved. A-Leen® 5, made from upcycled sugar cane bagasse, is a renewable alternative to petrochemical-derived Pentylene Glycol, commonly used for its moisturizing and skin-conditioning properties.

A-Leen® 5 offers versatile benefits, including emollient and antimicrobial properties. It is an easy-to-handle liquid that can be directly added to the water phase or mixed with vegetable oils. For optimal preservation efficacy, it should be incorporated into emulsions at the post-emulsification stage. Additionally, A-Leen® 5 serves as an effective skin humectant, solubilizer, and solvent for extraction, and it aids in hydrating gelling agents like xanthan gum. Recognized for its innovation, A-Leen® 5 received the Silver Green Ingredient Award in 2014 and is widely used across skincare, haircare, perfumes, toiletries, and makeup applications.
