Sustainable Solutions for Energy and Agriculture from Repurposed Organic Waste

Ductor addresses today’s environmental challenges in the energy and agriculture sectors by unlocking bioresources to make food production sustainable and energy generation clean. The company repurposes organic waste, transforming it into carbon-reduced fertilizers and renewable energy. Specializing in high-nitrogen organic waste that cannot be processed in conventional biogas systems, Ductor uses waste from agriculture, aquaculture, and other organic sources. This waste is fed into the Ductor reactor, where a patented microorganism consortium ferments it. Nitrogen is then recovered as a liquid fertilizer, which can be used in agriculture, while the remaining solid-liquid phase is processed in a biogas system to generate energy for municipal or industrial use. The resulting by-products (digestate) are upgraded into fertilizers and soil improvers, which are recirculated back into agriculture.

Ductor’s process offers an effective solution for managing high-nitrogen waste. Nitrogen is removed during a pre-fermentation step to prevent nitrogen inhibition in the main biogas fermentation process. The recovered liquid nitrogen serves as fertilizer, while the nitrogen-reduced slurry undergoes anaerobic digestion to produce biogas. The remaining digestate is refined into high-quality fertilizers or soil enhancers.

Ductor’s patented process represents a major advancement in biogas technology. Traditionally, high nitrogen concentrations in organic materials, like poultry manure or fish waste, present challenges for biogas production due to their inhibitory effects. Previous nitrogen removal methods often resulted in reduced biogas yields, high water demand, costly supplemental feedstocks, nutrient waste, and operational instability. Ductor's proprietary biological approach to nitrogen recovery overcomes these issues, optimizing biogas production's operational, economic, and environmental performance.
