West Fork Biotreatment Project

Large scale anaerobic biotreatment system. Asarco's biotreatment system consists of a settling basin and two anaerobic bioreactors discharged into a rock filter polishing cell that are followed by a final aeration polshing pond. Heavy metal pollution occurs when excavated rocks or exposed underground mines get into water. The West Fork Biotreatment plant does not require conventional chemicals that are often associated with sludge formation nor constant human monitoring and frequent sludge disposal.

Waterline® CI

Phosphorous-free corrosion inhibitor that protects carbon steel in cooling water by forming a persistent, passivating film on steel surfaces. Traditional phosphorous-based cooling water treatment has suboptimal performance under stressed water conditions, fouling from precipitation with calcium, the need for stabilizers, accelerated corrosion of zinc alloys, and the addition of nutrients that promote bacterial growth. Regulations on the limit of eutrophication of surface water makes cooling water with phosphorous more costly.

NEXAR® Polymer Membrane Technology

Sulfonated polymer membrane technology for cheaper and less energy-intensive water desalination. This technology can withstand higher pressures, allowing for higher water flux and transport rates. These higher rates increase efficiency while lowering costs. The membrane's structure gives it ion selectivity, low electrical resistance, wet and dry mechanical strength, and good dimensional stability in wet and dry conditions. The membrane's resistance to chlorine also makes it a better option than conventional materials that lack chlorine resistance because it avoids the pretreatment process.

BIONIC-FINISH® ECO

Fluorine-free and APEO-free water repellent textile finishing agents based on proprietary dendrimer technology. Highly efficient and durable performance with low application. Does not affect fabric quality and appearance. Free of fluorine and APEO.

CiCLO® Biodegradable Fabrics

Sustainable textiles additive that creates biodegradable spots in the matrix of plastic by combining it with polyester and nylon at the beginning of the fiber-making process. The biodegradation process is non-toxic to marine life. Process is easy to implement in existing manufacturing. Integrity, durability, and performance of fibers are maintained. Fibers and yarns are traceable through the CiCLO® Certificate of Authenticity program. CiCLO® is only activated in conditions where biodegradation can naturally occur.

OrganoTex® (*Also consider OC-AquaSil™ Tex)

PFAS-free and biodegradable textile waterproofing, biobased and readily degradable multi-functional wax, bio-based and readily biodegradable detergent, and biodegradable and fluorocarbon-free industrial DWR products. By combining the natural fatty acids of plants with Nobel Prize-winning chemistry organocatalysis, OrganoClick has created an effective water repellency that is environmentally sustainable and high-performance.

Pevalen™

Non-phthalate plasticizer for flexible PVC. While flexible PVC is less dependent on raw fossil materials, significant ingredients in its production are plasticizers. Conventional plasticizers are made of phthalate esters, which carry health concerns. Prevalen™ is plasticizer made of pentaerythritol tetravalerate (PETV). This novel plasticizer has excellent processing properties, high plasticizing efficiency, exceptional UV resistance, low volatility and smoke. It is also produced using less finite raw materials than conventional plasticizers.

Resinate®: Converting Landfill Wastes to Multi-Functional Green Polyols for Coating Applications

Polyester polyols based on rPET and other recycled components. Resinate® is a product line that uses recycled and renewable materials for high performance applications in coating, adhesives, and foams. The product, Resinate® EP1000-5.6, is based on rPET (recycled PET) and other recycled components, resulting in 66% recycled content. Resinate® C2051-50 is a modifed polyol for the coatings marketplace and contains 50% renewable content.

Decovery®

Family of partially bio-based resins for coatings and inks. These resins are partially made from plant-based materials that are more sustainably sourced. Products have as much as 52% plant-based content. These coatings perform equivalent to, or better than, traditional fossil-fuel alternatives. The ingredients in these resins also contain very low VOCs.
