Company: Porelio GmbH
Location: Am Mühlenberg 11, 14476 Potsdam
Start : As soon as possible
We’re a Potsdam-based startup developing advanced sorbent materials that tackle two of the biggest environmental challenges of our time: removing toxic PFAS contamination from water and recovering critical raw materials from waste streams. Our materials — Functionalized Ordered Mesoporous Silicas (FOMS) — combine exceptionally high surface areas with tunable surface chemistry, making them highly effective and versatile. They’re produced via a patented, green synthesis route that scales cost-efficiently.
Right now we’re at an exciting inflection point: refining our products, scaling up from lab to pilot scale, and running real projects with customers. It’s a rare opportunity to see firsthand how cutting-edge research travels from university to the real world — from grams to kilograms.
Your tasks
As a student assistant, you’ll support the team with lab-scale optimization of our materials, as well as helping produce materials for pilot projects with customers and partners. The focus is on process optimization, reproducibility and delivery.
- 01Planning and running lab-scale synthesis experiments
- 02Systematic variation of process parameters to improve yield and performance
- 03Building and maintaining reproducibility data across batches, including batch-to-batch consistency tracking
- 04Testing materials, for example through adsorption measurements
- 05Translating optimized lab results into process information that feeds the pilot plant and contributing to standard operating procedures
- 06Evaluating process data, applying basic statistical analysis to identify key parameters and sources of variability
- 07Documenting results and preparing scientific reports and presentations
Your profile
You are an enrolled student (m/f/d) in a Master program in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, and bring:
- Solid foundation in chemistry, materials, or chemical engineering fundamentals
- Experience in laboratory work and synthesis
- Knowledge of characterization methods (EA, BET, XRD) is an advantage
- Understanding of design of experiments and basic data analysis is an advantage
- Independent, careful, and responsible way of working, and able to be on-site at our lab facilities in Golm at least three days a week
- Team spirit and good communication skills
- Good English skills, written and spoken. German a plus.
What we offer
