This work presents a methodology for obtaining materials that can be employed as adsorbent platforms for contaminants, specifically heavy metals in aqueous solutions. The premise of this research lies in the use of carbonaceous materials derived from biomass and obtained through rapid pyrolysis; The use of carbonaceous materials derived from biomass, in combination with biopolymers derived from proteins or polysaccharides. At this point, the principles of green chemistry could be applied towards the generation of a material that is biodegradable and that also provides a useful application in the remediation of contaminated water. On the other hand, it is important to highlight that this research gives rise to the valorization of biomass residues from the agroindustry and that, as a country that produces and exports rice, it represents a major problem due to the lack of proper management of this waste.
