Hydrophobic ether solvent with applications in reactions, extraction, crystallization, polymerization, and coatings. CPME is a widely applicable replacement for Tetrahydrofuran (THF), Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE), Dioxane, and other solvents. CPME can be used in reactions, extractions, crystallizations, polymerizations, and coatings. CPME is hydrophobic and quick drying, functions at a wide range of temperatures, and has a low heat of vaporization and exothermic decomposition energy. Its hydrophobicity allows for easy separation and recovery from water, resulting in reduced emissions and wastewater. By enabling reactions to occur at a wide range of temperatures, CPME also accelerates reaction rates. Its low vaporization heat saves the energy required for distillation and recovery. Its low exothermic decomposition energy allows it to resist peroxide formation, preventing combustion hazards. It is also relatively stable to acids or bases.
