Infinium produces electrofuels (eFuels) to help the heavy transit and chemicals sectors achieve net zero by reducing CO2 emissions. Infinium eFuels are made from green hydrogen derived from renewable power and captured carbon dioxide in a proprietary process developed and commercialized over a decade. Infinium’s unique production process facilitates the on-site production of ultra-low carbon transportation fuels and chemicals such as sustainable aviation fuels (eSAF), eDiesel, and eNaphtha. Infinium eFuels contain no sulfur and are produced with nearly zero process emissions, reinforcing our commitment to supporting low-carbon practices across the value chain.
In the production process, each facility starts with three primary feedstocks: renewable power, water, and anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2). The company has key developments globally where these feedstocks are available in large quantities, providing opportunities for large-scale eFuels developments. Infinium’s electrofuels process combines proven, established technologies with innovative processes and proprietary catalysts and reactors for the unique production of liquid fuels and chemicals that deliver high conversion efficiency and ideal fuel production.
Today, electrolysis is one of the leading solutions for low-carbon hydrogen production. Infinium utilizes commercial-ready electrolysis in its integrated eFuels production facilities to produce green hydrogen. Electrolysis works by utilizing renewable electricity to split water (H2O) into carbon-free “green” hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O). Green hydrogen is then paired with anthropogenic CO2 through a proprietary process and catalyst developed by Infinium to produce syngas (H2:CO), which is comprised of hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO). While syngas is a common chemical intermediary, Infinium has cracked the code to ultra-low carbon syngas production with high CO2 conversion through a process that can scale to meet the growing demand in the market.
Syngas is then processed through Infinium’s proprietary liquid fuel production process and catalyst to produce liquid transportation fuels. Infinium deploys a “chain limiting catalysts” in this process step that produces liquid fuels directly. Infinium’s liquid fuel production process has been commercially operated, providing an intensified solution for ultra-low carbon fuel production.
The results are the production of ultra-low carbon Infinium eSAF, Infinium eDiesel, and Infinium eNaphtha. Infinium eFuels can be used directly in existing infrastructure without costly modifications. Infinium’s eChemicals can be used directly in existing chemical supply chains to produce everyday goods such as plastics, solvents, and cosmetics.
