Fabrics Made From CO2

Fairbrics, a French startup, is leading the charge in creating sustainable alternatives to traditional textiles. Their innovative process, which involves capturing CO2 from industrial sources and converting it into polyester fabric, is a beacon of hope for the fashion industry. By offering a more eco-friendly alternative, Fairbrics is not just reducing the industry’s reliance on fossil fuels but also inspiring a greener future.

The process involves capturing CO2 from industrial sources, which is then combined with a catalyst and solvent to produce key chemicals for polyester synthesis. These chemicals undergo a process of polymerization, forming polyester pellets. These pellets are then spun into yarn and woven into fabric. Fairbircs aims to produce carbon-negative in the near future that is 100% sustainable PET, offering a more eco-friendly alternative for the industry.
