Polydimethylsiloxane

Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS, 10 cSt at 25 °C) is a low-viscosity silicone fluid known for its excellent thermal stability, chemical inertness, hydrophobicity, and smooth flow behavior. It is widely used in lubrication, surface modification, mold release, microfluidics, and materials research.

Human health and environmental benefits

Thanks to its low toxicity, chemical stability, and minimal reactivity, PDMS offers a safer alternative to many organic solvents and petroleum-based lubricants. Its durability and long service life reduce material waste, while its biocompatibility supports environmentally responsible formulations and safer handling practices.
