Lygos develops scalable, high-performance, sustainable ingredients to help clients meet sustainable innovation targets. By combining biology, chemistry and application expertise, the company creates cost-effective, bio-based material solutions that improve performance and make sustainability a functional attribute. Understanding that replacing toxic processes and petrochemical-based ingredients takes time, Lygos strategically partners with industries such as agriculture, home and personal care, water treatment, and C.A.S.E (coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers) to efficiently integrate these solutions into existing systems.
The company currently offers two solutions: Soltellus™ and Ecoteria®, to be applied in various industries.
- Sotlellus™: A multifunctional, biodegradable, and water-soluble polymer with applications in agriculture, home care, personal care, and water treatment. In agriculture, it enhances nutrient uptake, promotes soil health, and improves the water quality of crops. For home and personal care, it boosts the stain-fighting power in laundry detergents and cleaner products, enhances emulsification and surfactant performance in skin care, and improves haircare formulations. In industrial applications like cooling towers, oil and gas, and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, it reduces maintenance costs and preserves the integrity and longevity of equipment lifespan.
- Ecoteria®: A sustainable malonate solution designed to improve safety and reduce environmental impacts. In fragrance manufacturing, it eliminates toxic chemicals and incorporates plant-based carbon certified by USDA Bio-preferred standards. In coatings, it offers high-purity, non-isocyanate chemistries with lower VOC emissions and faster curing times. Ecoteria® also strengthens supply chain resilience for pharmaceuticals and agricultural sectors by being the first major supply source outside of China.
Lygos’ strategy is driven by Accelerate™, which emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure market-ready solutions. Starting with renewable feedstocks like sugar and CO2, the company designs products adhering to green chemistry principles, focusing on energy efficiency and the reduction of persistent chemicals in the environment. Many of Lygos’ products are designed biodegradable, contributing to a safer, more sustainable supply chain.
