Standing Ovation is a French Startup pioneering a breakthrough precision fermentation process to produce non-animal-based proteins like casein, an essential component of milk protein. This innovative method preserves the nutritional, functional, and taste qualities of animal proteins, all while significantly reducing the environmental impact.
Umaro Foods has developed a seaweed-based bacon as an alternative to traditional pork bacon. Their bacon is crafted with red seaweed protein, sunflower and coconut oils, chickpea and seaweed protein, cane sugar, sea salt, plant-derived flavors, and natural colors like paprika and red radish juice. The result is a product comparable to pork-based bacon in terms of texture and taste. Pant-based bacon can be significantly more environmentally friendly than conventional bacon, as producing plant-based meat substitutes emits 30-90% less greenhouse gases.
Developed by Pivot Bio, a sustainable agricultural company that uses microbes to deliver nitrogen to plants as an alternative to synthetic fertilizers. Pivot Bio’s technology pinpoints a microbe natural to a crop’s specific microbiome with the genetic code for nitrogen fixation. All genetic changes to the microbe are within its genome and applied during the planting phase, where they bind to the root and continuously fix nitrogen throughout the growing season.
