Uganda's energy landscape is transforming with the National Biofuel Blending Program, and here is your chance to be at the heart of this change!

The Uganda Cleaner Production Centre (UCPC), in partnership with the African Power Initiative, is thrilled to announce the Green Chemistry Hackathon 2025! This is your platform to solve real-world industrial challenges and fuel a sustainable future.

We are looking for brilliant minds to tackle two critical problems:

Hackathon Challenge:

Development of innovative solutions for the selective removal of harmful chemicals from plastics, electrical and electronic waste (EE waste), specifically polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and phthalates, applying the principles of green chemistry. Who can apply:

Teams of researchers, students, start-ups, micro and small enterprises.

Prize for the best solution: 2,000 EUR (gross).

As environmental challenges become increasingly critical, technology is playing a pivotal role in addressing these issues. Jordan is emerging as a leader in technological innovation for sustainability, making it essential to engage and prepare the local youth through targeted, innovation-driven initiatives. In response to this need, we are thrilled to introduce the Green Technologies and Sustainability Hackathon.

A Hackathon to find innovative solutions in green chemistry. Both individual specialists and teams are invited to take part, ready to find solutions to real chemical challenges of Ukrainian industrial enterprises.
