Fluorine-Free Hydrophobic Liquid Repellent

Developed by DetraPel, Inc., a clean-tech advanced materials company specializing in synthesizing and manufacturing PFAs-free protecting coatings. Detrapel’s technology platform introduces a new way of bending and dispersing immiscible particles into water-based systems. These unique products and processes help remove cancerous PFA chemicals with non-toxic, sustainable, PFAs-free alternatives that outperform traditional legacy fluorinated chemistries.

Environmentally Friendly Adhesives for Wood Composites

Soy flour-based adhesives for wood composites. Adhesives for wood composites traditionally contain formaldehyde, which is a carcinogen. This technology is inspired by mussels' ability to use their proteins to adhere to rocks. Professor Kaichang Li modified the amino acids in soy flour, which is renewable and abundant, to resemble the adhesive proteins of mussels. Oregon State University, Columbia Forest Products, and Ashland Inc jointly-commericalized this novel adhesive. This novel adhesive is environmentally friendly, cost-competititve, and superior in strength and water resistance.

P2 Science transformers terpenes from the forest and oleochemicals from the field into safe, renewable, high performance, biodegradable, and multi-functional new ingredients for flavors, fragrances, cosmetics, personal care products, and specialty materials. Citropol® is a novel class of low MW liquid polymers that are made from 100% forest-derived terpenes through a clean, mild, and high yielding conversion process.

ZEORORA® H/HTA

Fluorinated, nonflammable, environmentally friendly solvent. ZEORORA® H is a nonflammable and evironmentally friendly solvent for a variety of application. ZEORORA® HTA is a cleaning solvent. ZEORORA® H/HTA function as alternatives to HCFC-225 and nPB. This solvent has zero ozone depletion potential, minimal global warming potential, and a short atmospheric lifetime. It also is thermally stable, has an easy recovery, and has a high boiling point with low consumption.

MixAlco Process™: Production of Chemicals, Fuel, and Animal Feed from Waste Biomass

Conversion of waste biomass into feed for animals and other chemical commodities. This technology converts biomass waste, such as municipal and agricultural waste, into chemical commodities and animal feed. Chemical commodities include butyric acids, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, and others. Municipal and agricultural waste is usually incinerated or disposed of in landfills, which negatively impacts the environment. These biomass-derived chemicals have net-zero carbon dioxide emissions and can reduce the chemical industry's dependence on petrochemicals.

Membrane-Based Production of Lactate Esters

Synthesis of organic solvents from sugars. This technology uses selective membranes to produce ethyl lactate and similar esters from sugar. This synthetic pathway is significantly more cost-effective than traditional methods. The process requires little energy, is efficient, eliminates large volumes of salt waste, and reduces pollution emissions. Lactate esters are high-performing, compatible with a broad range of aqueous and organic reactions, and biodegradable. These solvents can replace halogenated and toxic solvents used in the industry. 

Bio Gen Active® Scale 131 offshore

Acidic cleaning agent. Scale 131 offshore is an effective, highly concentrated acidic cleaning agent for Cleaning in Place (CIP) operations at offshore water-borne systems that is mild to users, materials, and the environment. It is classified as PLONOR (Possess Little Or No Risk to the Environment). This product is composed of biodegradable Bio Gen Active® and fruit acids. Traditional corrosion inhibitors are hazardous and negatively impact the environment. 

Cyclopentyl Methyl Ether (CPME)

Hydrophobic ether solvent with applications in reactions, extraction, crystallization, polymerization, and coatings. CPME is a widely applicable replacement for Tetrahydrofuran (THF), Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE), Dioxane, and other solvents. CPME can be used in reactions, extractions, crystallizations, polymerizations, and coatings. CPME is hydrophobic and quick drying, functions at a wide range of temperatures, and has a low heat of vaporization and exothermic decomposition energy.
