Peter J. Dunn Award for Green Chemistry & Engineering Impact in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Purpose:

The Peter J. Dunn Award was established in 2016 by the ACS GCI Pharmaceutical Roundtable (ACS GCIPR) to recognize excellence in the research, development, and execution of green chemistry that demonstrates compelling environmental, safety, and efficiency improvements over current technologies in the pharmaceutical industry and its allied industrial partners. The inaugural award was given to Peter J. Dunn of Pfizer and subsequently named in his honor.

ACS Award for Affordable Green Chemistry

Purpose:

To recognize outstanding scientific discoveries that lay the foundation for environmentally-friendly products or manufacturing processes at a cost comparable to or less than that of current technologies or discoveries that deliver new applications with compelling cost/benefit profiles. To identify and recognize the discovery of new eco-friendly chemistries with the potential to enable products or manufacturing processes that are less expensive than existing alternatives.

Description:

Identifying opportunities for green chemistry research to advance sustainable development

Green and sustainable chemistry aims to minimize the potential negative impact of chemicals and their production on human health, ecosystems, biodiversity, and the environment. Accelerating adoption of green and sustainable chemistry is critical to meeting United Nations sustainable development goals (UN SDGs) and addressing climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss in the coming decades.
