Friends, it is with deep respect, affection, and pride that I share a growing collection of reflections and contributions dedicated to the life and work of my dear friend, Professor Roger Sheldon FRS.
This special collection of memories and scientific papers—each shaped by Roger’s influence and generosity of spirit—has been thoughtfully curated by the editors of ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering. It feels especially fitting that it is being highlighted today, on the anniversary of his birth, 24 June.
As I write this, just a mile from Roger’s birthplace near Nottingham, I find myself reflecting not only on his extraordinary contributions to a field he loved so deeply, but also on the privilege of having known him as a friend.
