Morro™: Sustainable Plastic Alternative

Xampla is a materials innovation company unlocking the power of plants to create natural materials to change the world. Their multi-patented platform technology is based on 15 years of research at the University of Cambridge. Xampla’s innovation powers a new age of materials to enhance performance, create new experience, and eliminate the world’s most polluting plastics.

Xampla’s materials are made from natural plant polymers with no chemical modification. Xampla has created a range of materials using a wide variety of protein feedstocks including peas, potatoes and rapeseed. The technology is inherently feedstock agnostic and the company is continually innovating with new materials, including those from waste-streams to improve circularity.

Xampla is the creator of Morro™ materials. Made from plants, Morro materials are designed to eliminate the most polluting plastics. They are world-first, fully biodegradable, home compostable, fit-for-purpose, plastic-free alternatives for a range of products including barrier coatings, flexible films and edible packaging. Morro™ materials are designed to seamlessly integrate with existing processes, from manufacturing equipment through to end-of-life compatibility with standard recycling streams.
