UV-curable, one-component, low VOC automobile paint primer. This primer is made through a new urethane acrylate oligomer primer system. The primer cures in minutes from UV light, which is ten times faster than conventional urethane technologies. The primer requires fewer preparation steps, has a lower application rate, is more durable, controls corrosion better, and has an unlimited shelf life. This automobile paint primer contains less than half the amount of VOCs in conventional primers and is diisocyanate-free (a major source of occupational asthma). The primer contains 1.7 pounds of VOCs per gallon, whereas conventional primers contain 3.5 to 4.8 pounds per gallon. Less of this primer is required for the same effectiveness as traditional primers. Compared to conventional primers, this primer also has nearly zero waste. Handling the primer also requires less PPE, increasing worker safety. This product is offered in BASF's R-M® line as Flash Fill™ VP126 and Glasurit® line as 151-70.
