Recycling Solution for End-of-Life Tires

Prism Worldwide delivers sustainable solutions for polymer and elastomer applications across various industries. Recycling rubber, particularly from end-of-life tires, presents significant challenges due to the durability of vulcanized rubber. Many discarded tires are either incinerated, emitting harmful toxins, or left in landfills, leading to soil and water contamination.

To address these issues, Prism Worldwide developed the Prism™ process, which breaks down sulfur bridges in tires and transforms them into crumb rubber. This thermoplastic rubber intermediate serves as an additive for asphalt, thermoset rubber, thermoplastic elastometers (TPEs), and thermoplastics. Notably, tires made with Prism™ technology can be recycled multiple times, creating a stronger rubber with each cycle.

According to the company, Prism™ materials can lower greenhouse gas emissions by up to 86% when compared to virgin synthetic rubber. By fostering a circular economy for tires, Prism Worldwide reduces reliance on natural rubber, preventing deforestation and biodiversity loss linked to the rubber industry.
