Waterline® CI

Phosphorous-free corrosion inhibitor that protects carbon steel in cooling water by forming a persistent, passivating film on steel surfaces. Traditional phosphorous-based cooling water treatment has suboptimal performance under stressed water conditions, fouling from precipitation with calcium, the need for stabilizers, accelerated corrosion of zinc alloys, and the addition of nutrients that promote bacterial growth. Regulations on the limit of eutrophication of surface water makes cooling water with phosphorous more costly. In contrast, this product is versatile, being usable in industrial/institutional cooling systems, a wider pH range, and water with low/high hardness. It is also compatible with other common corrosion inhibition chemistries. The product is also derived from the company's production of sodium glycerate, which qualifies for use in Safer-Choice labeled products. Without phosphorous, the product also prevents calcium deposition and overfeeding the inhibitor. Additionally, the lack of phosphorous eliminates the need to use stabilizing copolymers to prevent fouling, lower operation cost.
