OECD workshop on financing sustainable chemistry
The OECD workshop on sustainable chemistry will discuss enabling conditions, lessons, and financing approaches that could stimulate investment towards safer and more sustainable chemicals, building on experience from Green Finance and Investment (GFI) for climate mitigation and other environmental goals.
Governments, investors, industry stakeholders, civil society and financial institutions are invited to participate.
The workshop will:
Green chemistry and the ocean-based biorefinery
Research into renewable chemicals, fuels and materials sourced from the oceans at Memorial University and elsewhere is employing green chemical technologies for the transformation of algae and food industry waste streams into useful products. A very small proportion of biomass utilization research is currently focused on these feedstocks and efforts focused in this area could reduce land space competition between food and chemical/fuel production.

1 year Anniversary of the Stockholm Declaration - 24 hour Celebration
To mark the one-year anniversary of the Declaration’s signing, we are hosting a 24-hour global webinar May 22–23, 2026, beginning at 3:00 AM EDT / 9:00 AM CEST. Participants are welcome to join at any time during the 24-hour period, from 3:00 AM EDT / 9:00 AM CEST on May 22 through 3:00 AM EDT / 9:00 AM CEST on May 23. Community members from around the world will come together to reflect on progress over the past year, share insights and experiences, and inspire continued action through a series of talks and discussions.
RAWS: Polymer-Level Biodegradation Additive for Hard-to-Recycle Plastics
RAWS is a masterbatch technology incorporated at 1–2% loading during standard plastic manufacturing. It introduces a redox catalyst that initiates polymer chain scission under defined conditions ,heat and humidity and/or moisture. Terminal bio-assimilation produces CO₂, CH₄, H₂O, biomass, and mineral salts. No microplastic fragments are generated.
