Principles for Chemical Ingredient Disclosure

Committed to accelerating chemical transparency across supply chains to consumers, a coalition of over 100 businesses, governments, health care organizations, investors, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have come together and endorsed the Principles for Chemical Ingredient Disclosure. The six Principles were designed by a multi-stakeholder coalition over the last 18 months to frame the necessary steps for increasing access to information about chemicals in products and their hazards:

CHEMICAL INGREDIENT TRANSPARENCY IN PRODUCTS: Review of Existing Public Policies & An Industry Standard

Clean Production Action (CPA) and the Northeast Waste  Management Officials’ Association’s (NEWMOA) Interstate  Chemicals Clearinghouse (IC2) have launched a partnership to find common ground among key stakeholders on chemical ingredient transparency policies and programs.

Change Chemistry (Formerly GC3) Recommended Framework for Ingredient Disclosure for Articles

Change Chemistry (formerly GC3) member retailers are working to implement chemicals policies and strategies that require information about chemicals in articles to enable informed decision making about the products they source and sell. Change Chemistry member suppliers recognize the need for sharing this information with their business customers but are understandably concerned about data security and the level of effort required to supply these data.

Open Supply Hub (OS Hub) is an open-source platform promoting global supply chain transparency. It collects, verifies, and shares factory and supplier data to help stakeholders such as brands, retailers, and manufacturers make informed decisions about their supply chains. The platform encourages collaboration and aims to foster responsible sourcing by mapping and making public the locations of factories, warehouses, and suppliers worldwide.
