TWAS-Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Award

This annual award, named after the The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Fellow Samira Omar, recognizes the significant impact on the environment and biodiversity of scientists from least developed countries, with a monetary award of $4,000 generously provided by Professor Omar.
 

The 2025 award will be awarded to a scientist national of a Least Developing Country (LDC), living and working in a LDC during the last two years immediately prior to his/her nomination, based on scientific achievements in any of the thematic areas below

Irving Langmuir Award in Chemical Physics

Purpose

To recognize and encourage outstanding interdisciplinary research in chemistry and physics, in the spirit of Irving Langmuir.

Description

The award consists of $5,000 and a certificate. The American Chemical Society makes the presentation in even-numbered years. The American Physical Society makes the presentation in odd-numbered years. Up to $1,500 for travel expenses to the meeting at which the award will be presented will be reimbursed.

ACS Award for Creative Advances in Environmental Science and Technology

Purpose

To encourage creativity in research and technology or methods of analysis to provide a scientific basis for informed environmental control decision-making processes or to provide practical technologies that will reduce health risk factors.

Description

The award consists of $5,000 and a certificate. Up to $2,500 for travel expenses to the meeting at which the award will be presented will be reimbursed.

The Elsevier Foundation Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge

The Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge is one of the Elsevier Foundation’s flagship partnerships. Together with Elsevier’s Chemistry journals, the Elsevier Foundation provides funding of 25,000 euros for 2 winning projects per year, implementing green & sustainable chemistry solutions in the Global South – advancing both Climate Action (SDG 13) and Gender Equity (SDG 5).
