The Green Chemistry Teaching and Learning Community (GCTLC) is a new online platform that provides a central location for the green chemistry education community to connect, network, collaborate, learn, share and grow together. Launched in October 2023, the GCTLC includes a searchable database of curriculum resources, an events calendar, a job board, discussion forums, group spaces (launching soon), and more.
As a platform created “by the community, for the community,” the GCTLC’s structure, format and content have been deeply influenced by the education community. To ensure that community voices continue to guide its direction, the GCTLC seeks a new Chief Moderator to oversee networking, collaboration and connection spaces on the platform. The Chief Moderator will work closely with the GCTLC administrators and Beyond Benign team to lead and support forum and group moderators on the site, manage the submission and review of requests for new groups, oversee the health and growth of existing groups and relationships, support the growth and development of the GCTLC’s events calendar and job board, help with functional testing of the platform (including new collaboration functionality), and more. A background in community building is highly desirable. A background that includes equity and diversity knowledge and/or training is also desirable for sustaining a strong sense of belonging and creating healthy and supportive connections within the GCTLC.
