Take advantage of our powerful external publication search tool which allows you to find global publications focused on sustainability and sustainable development goals. This tool provides a tailored search experience to help you stay informed and connected with the latest research and innovations.
Green Chemistry for Sustainability, in collaboration with Dimensions, offers an exclusive online tool that enables logged-in users to search and analyze chemistry-related publications consistent with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The dataset was custom-defined by ACS and implemented using Dimension’s machine-learning technology.
The SDGs are targets for global development that were adopted by the United Nations in September 2015 to be achieved by 2030. Comprised of 17 interconnected goals, they are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere. Effectively, they are a blueprint to achieve a more sustainable future for all. Dimensions provided a classification system for the 17 SDGs that focused on the societal, economic, and environmental aspects of the UN Sustainable Development Agenda.
More than one million publications – including more than 400,000 open-access articles – are currently searchable through the tool, and this number will continue to grow daily as new papers and books are published that meet the pre-set criteria. The data set includes publications from 2013 to the present that meet Dimension’s algorithmic criteria of (1) addressing at least one UN SDG and (2) being labeled with at least one field of research from a pre-selected group in the publication’s title or abstract. These fields include the chemical sciences, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, materials engineering, industrial biotechnology, climate change impacts, and ecological applications. Publications not labeled with one of these fields or which do not reference a UN SDG will not appear in Dimensions searches. To learn more about the field of reference filter and why some publications are included while others are excluded, visit the About the Dataset page.
Since the GCS launch at the 28th Annual Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference in Atlanta, more than 32,000 publications have been added to the tool. With many open-access publications, you can dive into your next research project without restrictions.
There are also many filters to discover, including publications by research category, country, top funders, common publishers, and most-published authors. Dimensions presents an analytical view of your search results. This helps you evaluate data over time, fine-tune your search, or identify the most active researchers, funders, publishers, and so much more.
In addition to searching external publications, we invite you to share your research, posters, and publications on GCS in the site’s Community Publications and Reports section. Here are a few reasons why you should consider submitting your content:
- Find well-aligned collaborations and enable others to find you
- Meet industry partners that can help evaluate the viability of your technologies and suggest room for improvements on the road to commercialization
- Enhance your credentials and promote your work
Finally, you can also browse peer-reviewed ACS journal articles advancing solutions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals in our special SDG Virtual Collection.
