Science Cafe: The Secret Chemistry of Hair Extensions
A look at new research on harmful chemicals in synthetic hair extensions and what it reveals about the inequity of everyday beauty. This Science Café explores the health risks associated with this largely unregulated category of beauty products, which disproportionately affect Black women.
ChemHAT (Chemical Hazard and Alternatives Toolbox)
ChemHAT is a free, internet-based database that provides accessible chemical hazard information to help workers, families, and communities protect themselves from harmful chemical exposures.
Built on the principle that knowledge drives protective action, ChemHAT goes beyond traditional exposure controls. Rather than asking "What PPE or engineering controls are needed to make exposure 'safe'?", ChemHAT is designed to answer a more fundamental question: "Is there a way to get this job done without known hazardous chemicals?"
Chemical Hazard Assessment Database (CHAD)
The IC2 developed the Chemical Hazard Assessment Database (CHAD) to enable users to search for FREE publicly available GreenScreen® assessments. The purpose of this tool is to promote awareness of assessments conducted on chemicals of high concern as well as potential alternatives, facilitate transparency and discussion, and reduce duplication of effort.

Enhesa Chemical Assessment Suite
Enhesa Chemical Assessment Suite provides a comprehensive evaluation of chemicals based on 24 human health and environmental hazard endpoints, covering concerns such as carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicity, endocrine disruption, neurotoxicity, persistence, bioaccumulation, and aquatic toxicity. With rapid screening of over 300,000 substances, the platform enables users to quickly identify potential hazards and make informed choices.
Putting Chemistry to Work for Clean Water
The 2024 Sustainability Summit will spotlight the vital role of chemistry in advancing U.N. Sustainable Development Goal #6: Clean Water and Sanitation. Join experts from academia, industry, and government as they explore how chemistry can drive global progress toward clean water access and quality.
ChemFORWARD Chemical Hazard Data Trust
Managed by ChemFORWARD, the data trust is designed to simplify access to chemical hazard data from dozens of credible sources, curate, maintain and continuously improve the data, and harmonize the information for actionable decision support that will accelerate the global transition to safer chemistry.
The data trust is populated and continually updated by licensed toxicologists using a comprehensive, globally accepted methodology. Each CHA is peer reviewed by independent toxicologists before being posted.
