Active Cross-Linking

Crossing, an innovative startup based in Italy, is developing a new class of “Active Cross-Linking Agents” (ACLs) at competitive prices. ACLs can be applied in various fields due to their unique ability to bind different molecules using a “lock and key” mechanism similar to enzymes. The structures of ACLs are highly adaptable, allowing the creation of a diverse chemical library with varying properties such as activity, speed of action, performance, and industrial applications.

Bioluminescent Lights

Lux Bio, a startup dedicated to sustainable innovation, has developed "Lume," a revolutionary bioluminescent lighting system designed to replace traditional chemiluminescent lights. This enzyme-based proprietary technology harnesses the power of enzymes to create a stable and long-lasting light source. When mixed with water, the bioluminescent formula produces light, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional chem lights. Unlike chemically synthesized alternatives, Lume is bio-manufactured in a lab using renewable resources, making it an environmentally friendly option.

Green Chemicals for Industrial and Consumer Products

Gefn is an Icelandic chemical engineering startup focused on producing and commercializing green chemicals for various industries. The company’s innovative technology replaces fossil-based feedstocks by converting low-value by-products, such as glycerol and fatty acids, and climate-neutral CO2 captured through direct air capture (DAC) and biomass fermentation into valuable carbonates and esters. These green chemicals serve as specialty chemicals, solvents, and intermediates in applications ranging from cleaning products and cosmetics to pharmaceuticals and batteries.

Sustainable High-Performance Cleaning Fluids

Intelligent Fluids is a German company specializing in creating innovative and sustainable cleaning solutions for various industries. The technology is based on a unique, patented blend of non-toxic, biodegradable fluids engineered to deliver high-performance cleaning while minimizing environmental impact. The company's patented technology enables effective cleaning without the use of harsh chemicals or solvents.

A-Leen® 5 -- From Biomass to Cosmetics

Minasolve, a subsidiary of the Minafin Group, specializes in developing and producing innovative, sustainable, and high-performance ingredients for the cosmetics and personal care industries. A key area of expertise for Minasolve is its "MinaSolve Protect" product line, which offers alternatives to conventional preservatives and includes a variety of cutting-edge ingredients designed to meet the demands of the cosmetic market. Among these is A-Leen® 5, a multifunctional ingredient that is ECOCERT and COSMOS approved.

2025 ACS GCI Green & Sustainable Chemistry Summer School

The ACS Green and Sustainable Chemistry Summer School (GSCSS) is a highly selective week-long program for graduate students and postdoctoral chemists and engineers. Each year, approximately 60 exceptional students from North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean are selected from a large pool of applicants and gather for this fully funded once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The American Chemical Society pays for all eligible travel and program costs.
